STITCH UP JUSTICE
A subscriber sent some good news, a newspaper report of how 2 men, Mark Jones and Leslie Jarvis have been jailed for 3 years and 18 months respectively and ordered to compensate 312 victims of their scam £40 each.

They asked for registration fees of about £40 in return for kits connected with sewing, painting and other crafts which were supposed to be sent back on completion to be sold. Some never got their kits, others had completed work rejected or were not paid for it. Many didn't get their fee refunded if they complained.

As the report says the pair practiced their deceit on people who could least afford to lose even small sums of money. That to me is the worst thing about all of the homework scams. Most who want to work from home are desperate for extra cash and invariably end up the losers to greedy con merchants who don't give a monkeys who they rip off. Lets hope that the DTI tackle more of this type of scam in the future and everybody gets their just rewards.
